The QBIARK, a major functionality enhancement of the Qbisys Data Protection Software Suite, is well suited to work in combination with the Qbisys VTL in providing an excellent means of managing backup data for long term and/or off-site storage.

While the QBIARK software can be used in an environment where other backup software packages already exist, the software gains its full functionality when put side-by-side with the Qbisys VTL engine. When used in a stand-alone setup, the Archiver can take data backed up to one medium and place it either on another medium, or help a given administrator setup media rotation policies, retention algorithms, and define estimations of how long it would take to restore anything from a single file to a full system. All useful for system administrators mired in trying to equate whether they can conform to the organization's SLAs (Service Level Agreements) or not.

The design of the interface fits right into the QBIMAN - Qbisys Centralized Management Console for easy integration. Used in conjunction with the Qbisys VTL, the QBIARK can automatically archive only modified VTL media to the Physical Tape Library. Data archival remains a key point of data security - keeping the VTL data backed up, offline, and secure from potential danger is concern for most enterprises. The QBIARK is fundamental to a fully functional disaster recovery strategy for operations of any size - allowing backup data to be as flexible as possible in remote storage and retention.
