One
of the cornerstones of the Qbisys Data Protection Software Suite
is the Qbisys Caching solution. The Qbisys Caching solution consists
of two products designed to eliminate performance bottlenecks in
the streaming of data from one medium to another.
On the ultra
high end of the performance spectrum is the Qbisys SSD, solid-state
disk, which permits extremely fast transaction processing of hard
disk-based storage repositories. The Qbisys SSD contains all the
elements of a traditional disk system, except this contains no moving
parts or platters---i.e., the unit has zero latency and virtually
no potential for hardware failure for any number of transactions.
This product is ideal for users of mission-critical OLTP databases
who need specific indices to look-up rows very quickly, or archive
redo logs in the blink of an eye.
In the same
regard, Qbisys' Virtual Tape Library imitates the operation of a
traditional tape library on a disk-based RAID system. This allows
backup administrators to quickly migrate on-disk snapshots, file
system data, or other normally time-consuming backup data. The result
is an on-line backup from which restores can be quickly performed
when the need is highest. Administrators won't need to wait for
tapes to load and wind to the correct position prior to initiating
a restore---with the Qbisys Virtual Tape Library system there is
no latency, no waiting for a restore to occur. It happens immediately.
Qbisys has
identified two of the main bottlenecks in streaming data between
mediums - from the CPU to hard disk, and from hard disk to tape,
and delivered two reliable and fast-performing solutions to act
as the grease between the typical three-tier storage design - RAM,
HDD, Tape. Qbisys Caching solutions are designed to eliminate all
the hazards in relying on just a single medium to perform the tasks
of storing data.
